Jacksonville State University’s Elite Scholars are sponsoring a campus shoe drive for the Jacksonville Christian Outreach Center through February 26.
The students have placed 11 collection boxes in buildings campus wide and invite the campus community to donate new and gently used shoes for their distribution to the area’s needy.
According to Elite Scholars Andrew Newsome and Jansen Harmon, the group plans to make this an annual event, and may add coats to the clothing items they will collect in the future.
