Coaches McGinnis, Case to Speak at First Pitch Luncheon
2010-02-01
The First Pitch Luncheon, featuring Jacksonville State head baseball coach Jim Case and head softball coach Jana McGinnis, will be held on Wednesday, February 10, at noon at the Gamecock Center.

The luncheon is free, but limited to the first 75 fans that call the JSU Athletic Department and pre-register. Golden Rule Bar-B-Q will provide the lunch.

Lunch will feature a quick season outlook by Coach McGinnis and Coach Case, while several members of both teams will also be at the event.

Coach McGinnis is picked to win the 2010 OVC title by the league’s coaches and enters the season having won three of the last four league crowns. The Gamecocks posted a 46-13 record in 2009 and received the OVC’s first at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, where they ousted Nebraska and Tennessee to win the Knoxville Regional. They eventually fell at No. 3 Alabama in the school’s first-ever Super Regional appearance, prompting the program’s first-ever appearance in the Top 25 polls.

Coach Case has led the Gamecocks to seven straight 30-win seasons and four Ohio Valley Conference Championships since joining the league in 2004. The Gamecocks have advanced to the OVC Tournament Championship Game in five of the last six years and JSU has posted the most conference wins of any other team in the league.

To register for the luncheon, please call Jan Evans at 256-782-5368 or email at jevans@jsu.edu.
