Gamecock Express Proposed Route Changes Effective Spring 2010 (From JSU Institutional Support Services)
WHITE ROUTE- No Changes
RED ROUTE- Currently running four (4) buses. Drop route down to three buses during peak times, and run the fourth bus along basically the same route in the opposite direction. All the same buildings will be served, but a few stops will be different due to traffic and the existing stops being on the wrong side of the bus. We may add a second bus to the reverse route based on demand. To avoid confusion, the reverse RED ROUTE is proposed to be thePURPLE ROUTE.
GREY ROUTE- To be eliminated. Ridership numbers are not supporting this route and the buildings it services will continue to be serviced with the RED and WHITE routes.
YELLOW ROUTE- The Saturday service will be discontinued, leaving only Thursday and Friday evenings. Ridership numbers do not support the Saturday service and the SGA supports this elimination.
BLUE ROUTE- Several stops are recommended to be eliminated from this route to increase efficiency and due to the extremely low passenger counts. The eliminated stops are primarily at the off campus apartment complexes. Stops recommended for eliminated are:
Cedar Bend Apartments
Cedar Trace Apartments
Cottonwood Apartments
Middleton Flats
Richelieu I and II Apts.
University Estates
Eagle Pointe I Apartments
Church Avenue Housing
Ladiga Hills Apartments
College Apartments
We are also looking at the ADDITION of a stop in the Winn Dixie/ CVS Pharmacy/ Hampton Inn area, which is yet to be determined.
BLACK ROUTE- The proposed Winn Dixie/CVS/Hampton Inn stop will also be added to this route. Saturday service for this route will also be eliminated due to low passenger counts.
PARKING ZONE CHANGES- Several parking issues were discussed, but at this time we are not making any recommendations to change parking zones.
