Jazz at Jacksonville State University again takes center stage as the Studio Jazz Band and several student combos present a concert on Thursday November 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the Mason Hall Performance Center.
The Studio Jazz Band, directed by Mace Hibbard, will feature a variety of jazz standards as well as modern jazz compositions.
The combo program under the direction of Marc Miller will feature combos and small groups of jazz musicians.
The Jazz Studies program in the David L. Walters Department of Music at Jacksonville State University prepares student musicians in the performance and direction of jazz in a variety of styles from the classic styles of the twentieth century to the current modern contemporary styles. Since many students later become music educators this knowledge of an American musical style is an important aspect of their educational experience.
This program in free and the public is cordially invited.
