We offer two services that will notify you whenever we add news to our site:
  • RSS feeds
  • JSUNews on Twittter

RSS Feeds
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, a web feed format that allows subscribers to pull content into their computer or mobile device simply by using software called a "reader" or "aggregator." Depending upon the kind of computer or mobile device you have, the software will differ, but the beauty of RSS Feeds is that they send updates to you in real time, creating a steady flow of information.

Fortunately, most of the newer computers and devices make subscribing to RSS feeds a cinch. Many web browsers have the capability to launch a RSS subscription to the current website by clicking an icon right next to the page's URL in the navigation bar. Usually, this will prompt you to indicate how you want the feed handled. You might opt to have the feed go into your e-mail inbox, which means you'll receive that site's updates along with your new mail. If that option is not available, you should be able to snag the feed's URL, then copy and paste it into whatever reader software you use.

For a great tutorial on Feeds that includes links to readers, we recommend Google's FeedBurner Help.

What's Twitter?

Twitter.com represents a very simple but brilliant way to share small bits of information with the rest of the online community. This is what makes it perfect for our news updates!

Here's how it works: In 140 characters or less, Twitter users are asked to respond to the question "What are you doing?" A few characters and perhaps a quick pasting of a website address later, followed by a quick tap on the "send" button, and a "tweet" is born.

It's simple to set up a free account. Once you're on Twitter, you can jump right into the flow of information by "following" others' "tweets" or permitting others to "follow" yours. You can keep up with the "Twitterverse" several different ways: right on Twitter.com, via a "widget" that you install on your computer, or through software such as "TwitterFon" or "Twitterverse," which you install on your mobile device.

Here's Twitter's own help portal, which includes a nice video overview.
